It’s Just Business

“It’s Just Business”

Blog posts are posted based on interactions and conversations.

I don’t follow a consistent posting plan because authentic interactions cannot be scheduled into life.

The topic of “Its just Business” has crossed my path a few times in the last few months.

My business is modelled on social entrepreneurship.

This is a form of business whereby social needs are delivered and met within a profit motivated business.

Why is it profit motivated and not non-profit?

Because non-profit organizations much like charity organizations still require FUNDING.

A great icon of Yoga is Gandhi.

He did amazing work for social justice in South Africa AND he was financially backed by a Jewish Zionist who provided his financial needs.

For many years he generated his own income as a lawyer but after some years he established financial backing.

While I respect his chosen path, for me, the most sustainable approach is to generate my own funds.

I believe he would approve since self-reliance and being economically self-sufficient is what he taught.

This is why people in India made their own clothes.

People doing social services related work are often seen to be struggling financially.

Income earned within the industry is less, however work related stress is VERY HIGH.

Burnout rates are high!

Careers end early for many of these people.

My personal choice was to move OUT of illness industries into Wellness.

I made the choice to NEVER RETURN to retail pharmacy or hospital pharmacy EVER AGAIN.

I have made the decision to THRIVE in my own life and work with others who want to do the same.

  • YOU ARE ALLOWED TO STOP SURVIVING.

  • YOU ARE ALLOWED TO MOVE OUT OF BASE SURVIVAL MODE.

  • YOU ARE ALLOWED TO THRIVE ON EVERY LEVEL.

The most important thing to know is that my business personality and my personal life personality IS THE SAME PERSON.

Many of my clients have said they feel comfortable with me very easily.

I believe this is because I AM CONSISTENT.

Hearing people say “Its just business”, disturbs and upsets me.

Businesses rely on people entirely.

Whether these people are clients, customers, staff, suppliers,…..whatever….

They are people.

There are 7.6 billion people in the world.

I cannot please everyone and I have no intention to.

I do however treat everyone in the same way.

A few months ago I had an unpleasant interaction.

The situation resulted in me cutting a $100 dollar bill into pieces and returning the payment to the client.

This may seem extreme.

I am now friends with this person, after making myself CRYSTAL CLEAR.

I WILL NOT BE TREATED BADLY REGARDLESS OF PAYMENT.

With EVERY client I work with, I know my intentions from the very first interaction.

I know my intentions in the creation of this website content.

The words are my own and I believe people hear my voice come through in an authentic way.

Social entrepreneurship is the perfect blend of supporting myself sustainably while doing work that is needed in this world.

Success for me, is me doing business in the way I wish everyone else would too : PEOPLE FIRST

Treat others as you wish to be treated, whether they are paying you or not.

Many people I have done business with are those who I have known for many years.

There is LIFETIME VALUE in relationships.

For this reason I cannot possibly have more than one personality.

I value people.

I say thank you.

I validate honest interactions with appreciation and kindness IN THE SAME WAY I would hope to be.

There is no hidden agenda. There is no hidden expectations.

I am however realising this approach to doing business in which I am myself as apposed to having a facade or persona is unusual in consumer driven cultures.

At the end of the day, REMEMBER…..

PEOPLE ARE NOT PRODUCTS

PEOPLE ARE NOT TOOLS

We cannot be bought, sold, exchanged or used as a tool.

I would sooner reject the income than feel compromised, used or disrespected, mostly because I NEVER leave others feeling that way.

I am my business and my business is me.

People come to the business because they choose to work with me as a human.

True wealth is RAISING OTHER PEOPLE UP as you yourself grow.

Its about community contribution.

The trickle down effect.

If you lose your humanity while generating income there is no purpose to the work.

Food for thought

So may it be for you 🙏
